Tech

Amaka

Techamaka is a Creative Space Startups initiative put forward with the goal of advancing tech inclusion for all girls 8-18 years. Launched in March 2021 with the objective of empowering youth, women and children with basic digital literacy skills by 2025

The project seeks to use technology as a tool for social change primarily by providing digital skills to individuals in underserved communities within Nigeria. The program was originally designed for young girls aged 8-18 years, however, following results from the pilot in April, the project was revised to meet more groups i.e Kids 8- 18 years (Schooled and unschooled)  Women entrepreneurs, unskilled and unemployed youth.

Understanding the challenge of lack of infrastructure and facilities in this community, the Techamaka project will use a mobile ICT lab with the tools and facilities to adequately empower members of underserved communities with relevant ICT skills.

Testimonials

I feel very excited being part of this training. Although this is not my first time in a coding class. I always felt bored when it comes to coding

Mogaha Daniella

They broke down their definitions of terms and were willing to answer all of our questions. I would like to challenge as well as motivate my fellow girls to start participating in tech training as well as tech careers.

Umege Christabel

At first, I didn’t feel like I could program but as I attended subsequent classes I found it more interesting. One of the unique things about the just concluded training is the fact that the instructors(#eSkills4girls and techamaka team) were patient enough to take us through the class.
